Sundays roll around, a long weekend spent with friends, and a heavy workweek to come... The only thing we look forward to as much as the latest Game of Thrones is our weekly routine of making something fun and interactive for dinner. A new way to think of "Sunday-Funday!"
This past Sunday, we made homemade pork dumplings, a spicy tuna roll, salmon and tuna nigiri, salmon sashimi, bibimbap, and fresh strawberry ice cream. We spread it out over a few hours, making one thing and cooking it up, then cleaning up that mess before starting with the next. Every bite was more delicious than the last.
Later that night, I decided to start this blog and Instagram page, it was fun to take pictures of the food. It honestly started out because I really enjoy showing off Kyle's creations to my girlfriends, but more and more people were commenting on my photos, asking for recipes, & they couldn't believe that we had made this sushi ourselves!
So, here's how we do our typical Sunday, we hit up the grocery store, usually Costco, or this Asian grocery store near us that has good quality food and amazing deals, H-Mart, and grab whatever else we need from a regular store. It makes me feel so old! Then we'll go to my place and start to make dinner while anxiously awaiting the latest GoT episode.
1st Course: Dumplings
Unfortunately, because I didn't think about it until later, I don't have pictures of the dumplings, but you can check out our recipe for dumplings here.
2nd Course: Sushi, Nigiri, & Sashimi
One of my few specialties is spicy tuna rolls. We keep it simple: Mayo, Spicy Chili Paste, Scallions, Tuna, Seaweed, Sushi Rice, and Toasted Sesame Seeds. Check out the full recipe & how-to here!
Kyle makes the nigiri, we picked up some choice sushi-grade salmon and tuna from H-Mart earlier that day, so Kyle used the sushi-rice recipe found here, and packed the rice into small ovals. These were by far the best nigiri that we've ever made.
Here's the finished product: 1 spicy tuna roll (7 pieces), 11 pieces of salmon nigiri, 7 pieces of tuna nigiri, and with the leftover salmon: 3 pieces of salmon sashimi.

3rd Course: Bibimbap
Check out Kyle's full Bibimbap recipe here! But first, check out this #yolkporn. The yolk sinks into the beef, scallions, carrots, sprouts, and rice below, making a delicious combination!

Dessert:
We used our Zoku Ice Cream Maker and used the recipe for strawberry ice cream found on their recipe blog, with just a few tweaks to create our own incredibly fresh strawberry ice cream!

So there you have it! That's how we do Sunday-Funday in the Delicious Dinners house.
